The videos are from a previously recorded in-person Love & Responsibility course. You can watch them on your own schedule, but we suggest committing 1-3 hours per week in order to get through all of the material. You will not have access to the videos beyond the end date of the course.
Full participation in this course counts towards Certification and the Master’s Degree Programs. Students who wish to receive full credit for this course must watch all of the videos and complete a multiple-choice exam at the end of the course. A passing grade of 80% is required for the exam.
Each video session is complete with the resources used in the course, as well as directions for helping to make this online course, not only intellectually stimulating, but also spiritually fruitful.

This online course is devoted to Saint John Paul II’s classic pre-papal work Love and Responsibility and examines the philosophical foundation of the TOB. Themes include: the dignity of the person as the kind of being that must never be used; sexual attraction and emotion as the raw material of love; integrating sexual attraction and emotion with the dignity of the person; male and female differences; the swallowing of shame by love; and the nature of chastity as a virtue that celebrates the true dignity and goodness of the person and of sexuality.
Registrants for this online course, will receive access to a filmed version of our in-person 5-day Love & Responsibility course and a digital course workbook. You will receive access as soon as you purchase it, and have an entire semester (120 days) to complete the graduate level course. Registrants should plan to watch approximately 2 hours of materials per week to complete the course in the given timeframe.
Students are to complete the assigned readings before or during the course. The reading list for this course can be found in the course syllabus. For those enrolled in the Certification or the MSA Programs, completion of these readings is required. For all others, pre-reading is recommended.
Dr. Christopher West serves as President of the TOB Institute and as Professor of Theological Anthropology in the jointly sponsored M.A. program with Pontifex University. His global lecturing, best-selling books, multiple audio and video programs, and popular podcast (co-hosted by his wife Wendy) have made him one of the world’s most recognized teachers of St. John Paul II’s Theology of the Body. His work has been featured in The New York Times, on ABC News, MSNBC, Fox News, and countless Catholic and Evangelical media outlets.
Jeanette Clark, M.A., received her Master’s in Theological Studies from the Pontifical John Paul II Institute for Studies on Marriage and Family in 1997, and subsequently served under Archbishop Charles Chaput as Director of the Office of Christian Initiation for the Archdiocese of Denver from 1997-2001. That year she married Jason Clark (Executive Director of Theology of the Body Institute) and their adventure into family life began – raising, now, four sons and one daughter between the ages of 23 and 13. Beyond her formal and extensive experience in the classroom as both a student and teacher of theology, Jeanette’s particular gift and practical wisdom flow from over two decades of delving ever deeper into the mystery of what it means to be human in her vocation as a wife and mother: deep ponderings at the kitchen sink.
